The Private Farmers Assistance Program (PFAP) was a 5-year program in Moldova in which EWMI provided post-privatization assistance to private farmers and rural entrepreneurs in Moldova. By working with farmer cooperatives, producer associations and local community organizations, EWMI contributed to the success of private farmers and ensured that the transition to private farms resulted in sustainable economic growth.

Programs In Moldova
The Private Farmers Assistance Program (PFAP) provided post-privatization assistance to more than 500,000 farmers and rural entrepreneurs in Moldova. Working with farmer cooperatives, producer associations and other local community organizations, EWMI provided the Moldovan private farmers with the skills and tools necessary for their future success. It was also envisioned that as a result of PFAP, a network of institutions, primarily NGOs, would be established and strengthened to provide continuing support to private farmers and enterprises in rural communities throughout Moldova.
EWMI was integral in assisting Moldova in its transition to international accounting and auditing practices.
EWMI’s Center for Private Business Reform in Moldova oversaw three distinct activities to reform private businesses in Moldova from 1995-2000: (i) the National Land Privatization Program described below; (ii) a capacity building effort which resulted in the restructuring of over 60 private enterprises in Moldova; and (iii) the implementation of the sixteenth (and last) mass privatization effort in Moldova.
