With a grant from the United States Department of State - Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL), the East-West Management Institute implemented a project to advance transparency and counter corruption in Sri Lanka, by providing technical support to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). The Advancing Transparency and Accountability in Sri Lanka: Strengthening the Technical Capacity of CIABOC project helped to build CIABOC’s capacity to document, process, monitor, and resolve corruption and bribery cases, and helped develop an automated case management for tracking CIABOC’s caseload. The project also sought to improve CIABOC’s outreach and communications with other government agencies, CSOs, and the public. As part of this effort, EWMI administered a small grants program to provide NGOs with funding to become more engaged with anti-corruption activities and improve coordination with CIABOC. The grants program was coordinated with the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL).
